Lana Brand Cheese

Lana Brand 0.5% M.F. cottage cheese is the largest selling cottage cheese in the store and one of the best selling cottage cheeses in Ontario. Enjoy it plain, mixed with smoked salmon, or fresh garden vegetables. The Lana Brand 2.5% M.F. cottage cheese is still produced and sold out of a cheese cloth for the freshest full flavor product which put Daiter’s on the map back in 1937. Their cream cheese is perfect for those who prefer a traditional full fat cheese, or try their 9% M.F. cheese for low fat alternative.

We have changed the Lana packaging to a vacuum package to prolong the shelf life considerably. Unlike other name brand cheeses in containers Lana products is a very pure product containing only three ingredients, milk, bacterial culture, and salt. As a result of the short dates many of the major stores either ran short of the product or stopped carrying it altogether.

We were afraid if the volume continued to drop the dairy would discontinue producing Lana, like they have with other products.

We researched different solutions for over a year and hired a company to report on the concerns of the other stores. We could either put in preservatives or changed the packaging to a vacuum pack.

We wanted to keep the product pure so we went with the vacuum pack. It may be an unfortunate inconvenience for some people, but we felt that we did not have another choice. We are sorry for the change but hopefully all the stores will start ordering more stock so that their shelves do not run dry.

Just cut one end of the package and squeeze it into a container.
